About Archery

Archery

Archery involves propelling an arrow by use of a string stretched across the opposite ends of curved limb; wherein the archer puts the limbs under load by pulling back on the string either manually or mechanically and then aims the arrow at the target. Upon releasing the tension on the string, the kinetic energy of the limbs is transferred to the arrow and the arrow is launched towards the target.

One of the most important elements of the arrow and how it flies is the type of fletching it has affixed to the shaft. The fletching causes rotation to the shaft will allows for more accurate and reliable arrow flight when cutting through the wind towards its target. There are two materials generally utilized for arrow fletching, plastic vanes and natural bird feathers. Both have their advantages and disadvantages as most things in life do.
