Archery

Archery involves propelling an arrow by use of a string stretched across the opposite ends of curved limb; wherein the archer puts the limbs under load by pulling back on the string either manually or mechanically and then aims the arrow at the target. Upon releasing the tension on the string, the kinetic energy of the limbs is transferred to the arrow and the arrow is launched towards the target.
